About the company

IGWT Poultry Services have been involved in the poultry business since 1951. Based in Broomfield, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan the company started out rearing turkeys each Christmas. After being passed down for three generations, the business has progressed into processing and selling fresh poultry to supermarkets, hotels, butchers and home customers. The thriving business is well-respected across industry and customers alike for their top quality products and reliability. The consistency in quality and taste leads to satisfied customers all year round.

IGTW has grown to employ 110 workers with additional staff hired during the very busy festive season. Not only do they invest back into their own business but also

in the local community. All staff receive high levels of training across areas of food safety, hygiene and animal welfare to ensure quality across the entire business.

Key Sustainability Commitments

Spotlight Target Area: Community Engagement

Within the past year, IGWT have significantly increased their level of engagement with the local community, including the local church and football club, as well as the St Vincent De Paul programme. Within their Origin Green Plan, they initially aimed to maintain a consistent sponsorship approach. In 2022, they have exceeded their target, increasing monetary donations by 240% across the three chosen initiatives.

Additionally, IGWT rallied their team and provided multiple staff days to support a local community project helping elderly people in need. In March 2022, staff were packing and delivering food parcels from their own production for the second year in a row. A high level of staff engagement could also be seen in the member's support of an employee's project in Malaysia where they were working with local chicken farmers. As a result, the member has increased the wellbeing of their local community, a core part of social sustainability. Their involvement with the St Vincent De Paul programme helps alleviate poverty across Ireland.
