Their products can be found at numerous roadside stalls across Ireland, where customers can buy them directly from the farm. Spotlight Target Area: Packaging
While it is a challenge due to the soft nature of their produce, Greenhill Fruit Farm aim to reduce the plastic packaging across their product lines, successfully removing 35.9% from their fruit punnets. This places them 27% ahead of their target milestone for 2022, already exceeding their initial target of 25% reduction two years ahead of schedule.
The business credits increased contract packaging for one of their leading retail customers who asked for plastic-free packaging. In addition, Greenhill Fruit Farm moved towards using cardboard punnets for their roadside sales, which is a key sales channel. Consequently, the member improved their product carbon footprint, reduced plastic packaging waste throughout their supply chain, and created a solid foundation for further reductions in the coming years.
